The first European data hackathon, organized by TELT in collaboration with Open Data Playground, dedicated to climate monitoring between the Susa Valley and Maurienne.

he first Alpine Climate Data Challenge, the inaugural edition of an international hackathon organized by TELT in collaboration with Open Data Playground, is scheduled from February 22 to March 3, 2025, with the final on March 12, 2025, in Turin.

The hackathon was officially announced on July 30, 2024, at Casa Italia during the Paris Olympics.

The team-based event will be open to all students from worldwide universities enrolled in undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral programs, and will focus on climate data analysis in the Susa Valley and Maurienne.

Teams will compete to showcase their skills in data analysis, predictive modeling, and the development of data visualization solutions that provide real added value to the area.

By participating in the Alpine Climate Data Challenge as a player, you will have the opportunity to develop an innovative knowledge tool and promote the sharing of environmental data.

The goal is to facilitate access to the shared use of environmental information and to promote greater awareness and effective actions to address climate challenges.

How to participate

The Alpine Climate Data Challenge will be organized with a Data Science competition that includes a final Pitch Competition for the best teams.

The teams will analyze climate data related to the Susa Valley and Maurienne, develop predictive models, and create data visualization solutions for the populations of the areas studied.

The competition is aimed at students from worldwide universities enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral programs. The event provides an opportunity to test skills, develop new competencies, and collaborate in an international context on a project of significant importance.

By participating in the Alpine Climate Data Challenge, teams can help the regions and respond to the challenges of climate change, contributing to improving the resilience and sustainability of these areas.

Training courses preparatory to the event

Palantir

In order to use the Palantir Foundry Suite, participants will have to complete an online training course that will allow them to understand the logic and functionality of the tool they will have at their disposal.

This will be essential to ensure they are prepared for the challenges proposed by the hackathon.
